FIRE PREVENTION AND PREPAREDNESS

Our Role: The RFFC Grant
The Regional Forest and Fire Capacity Program is a California Natural Resources Agency program administered by the California Department of Conservation. The RFFC program seeks to increase regional capacity to prioritize, develop, and implement projects that improve forest health and fire resilience throughout California.
The Department of Conservation awarded IERCD a block grant which will be applied throughout the San Bernardino Mountains and adjacent foothill communities to:
-
Perform pre-project planning and permitting to ensure projects are able to move forward and have properly addressed the CEQA/NEPA process
-
Implement on-the-ground demonstration projects focused on improving forest health for the benefit of fire prevention
-
Build capacity within regional fire and forestry agencies to increase future project readiness, including support to existing and new Fire Safe Councils
-
Develop a Regional Priority Plan to help guide regional efforts and future grant acquisition efforts

We Are Here to Help Your Fire Safe Council!
The IERCD can use block grant funds to provide administrative and technical assistance associated with:
-
developing a firesafe council for your community
-
strengthening an existing fire safe council
