Rebate Programs

San Bernardino
City of San Bernardino Municipal Water Department
The City of San Bernardino Municipal Water Department is offering huge rebates to its customers in San Bernardino!

High Efficiency Toilets:
Get an $85 rebate for the purchase and installation of a high efficiency toilet. Each toilet must use less than 1.2 gallons per flush. Customers can get a maximum of two rebates.

High Efficiency Washer
:  Customers are eligible for a $200 rebate for the purchase of a washer that uses 25 gallons or less per load.

High Efficiency Dishwasher
: Customers are eligible for an $85 rebate for the purchase and installation of a dishwasher that uses less than 5 gallons of water per cycle.

Sprinkler & Irrigation Controller
: Customers can receive an $85 rebate for an electric sprinkler controller with less than 14 zones, that is weather based. They can receive $65 for a first time installation of a standard electronic controller and $35 for the addition of a soil or moisture censor.

Dought Tolerant Shrubs & Trees:
  Customers can qualify for up to 10% of the purchase of California Native or Drought Tolerant Trees and Shrubs. Maximum of $100 rebate.

Low Flow Showerhead:
Earn a $15 rebate for the purchase of a low-flow showerhead. Limit two.

Evaporative Cooler Repair Kit:
  The Water Department has worked with local hardware and home improvement stores to create a kit to repair your leaky swamp cooler. Earn a 15% rebate for the kit.

Program Description: Residents may use the site to apply for rebates individually, or they may apply for the “Whole House Rebate” program which refunds money directly to those residents enacting at least two energy efficient and/or water conservation measures. This program uses a point system to determine refund amount.

Potential Rebates: These will vary greatly; one example:

  •       Conservation measures implemented: replacement of dishwasher, refrigerator, two toilets, and two ceiling fans; planting one large shade tree.
  •      Collective total of individual rebates: $515.00
  •      Points assigned, according to “Whole House Program:” 10
  •      10 points = 250% of earned rebate
  •      Total refunded to resident: $515.00 x 250% = $1,287.50

Program Description: IEUA offers rebates for purchase of upgrades washers and irrigation equipment. The website listed also has links for additional rebate opportunities for customers of member agencies of IEUA.

  • High efficiency clothes washers: $135.00
  • Smart Timer Controllers: up to $125.00
  • Rotating spray nozzle irrigation heads: $5.00/device
Chino Area Residents
The Magic of Mulch
The Chino Basin Water Conservation District (CBWCD) offers free mulch on a regular basis. Residents who live within the district's boundaries are welcome to pick it up from the CBWCD parking lot.
 
During the rainy season, a healthy layer of mulch on top of the soil helps control erosion issues. In addition, mulch is beneficial by retaining soil moisture, inhibiting weed growth, building the soil and beautifying your yard!
