Meet the Directors
Vice-President Avent was appointed to the Board of Directors by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors in 2001. She serves on the Land Preservation and Mitigation Committee as well as the Public Outreach and Education Committee.
Vice-President Avent retired from the Southern California Edison Company as a Regional Manager of Public Affairs where she worked closely with a elected officials, non-profit organizations and many of the cities located within IERCD’s boundaries. She has lived in San Bernardino County her whole life and has served on a number of other Boards including the Upland YMCA, the Rancho Cucamonga, Chino Valley, Montclair, Ontario and Upland Chambers of Commerce, the Upland Council Advisory Committee and the San Antonio Community Hospital Foundation.
Secretary-Treasurer Tim Johnson was appointed to the Inland Empire RCD Board of Directors in January of 2007 and serves on the Budget and Finance Committee as well the Land Conservation and Mitigation Committee.
Director Terrie Andrews has served on the Board of Directors since 2002 when she was appointed by the County Board of Supervisors. As a resident of the City of Calimesa, Director Andrews represents the portion of Riverside County that is within the Inland Empire Resource Conservation District’s service area. In addition to serving on the Board, Director Andrews volunteers on the Administrative and Personnel Committee.
Director Andrews has worked for more than 20 years as a real estate professional in the Yucaipa area. Before she became a real estate agent, Terrie was an English Teacher. She is active in her local Chamber of Commerce, Toastmasters as well as the Yucaipa/Calimesa Association of Realtors, the California Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. In addition to her passion for selling homes, Director Andrews is interested in promoting the importance of water conservation to all Inland Empire residents.
Director Brad Buller was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2009 and also serves on the Administrative and Personnel Committee. The need for open space protection and enhancement encouraged Director Buller to become a Licensed Landscape Architect and he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Landscape Architecture from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona. Director Buller’s career includes over 30 years of working as the Planning Director for both the Cities of Rancho Cucamonga and Claremont where he worked with urban and open space issues. Director Buller currently owns and operates his own consulting company where he works to build quality communities that affect positive change.
In addition to his work on the Board of Directors of Inland Empire Resource Conservation District, Director Buller serves on the Board of Directors for the Alta Loma School District.
Director Mathisen served on the Board of Directors from 1995-2007 and was re-appointed to the Board again in 2009. She is on the committee for Public Outreach and Education.
Director Mathisen is an Apple Rancher in Oak Glen, and serves on the Oak Glen Apple Growers Association. In addition to being a farmer and rancher, Director Mathisen is an architectural designer, focusing on the wise and responsible use of natural resources as they relate to both construction and habitat.
Director Vander Dussen was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2002. He currently serves on the Public Outreach and Education Committee.
Director Vander Dussen has been a dairy man in Chino for the last 40 years and a Dairy Real Estate Broker for the last 30 years. He is very familiar with the current natural resource issues surrounding agriculture, dairies and land use in the Inland Empire and San Bernardino County.
In addition to serving on the Inland Empire RCD Board of Directors, Director Vander Dussen is the President of the Milk Producers Council, a non-profit organization that represents dairy families throughout the State of California.
Associate Director Kay Kielhold has a long history of working with the Inland Empire Resource Conservation District. She served as an Associate Board Member for several years in the 1990’s, prior to taking over her husband Allan’s seat on the Board after he passed away. Director Kielhold continued as a regular Director until 2004 when she did not seek re-appointment, deciding instead to serve once again in the capacity of an Associate Director.
Director Kielhold faithfully serves the Inland Empire Resource Conservation District, generously volunteering her time to the education department and the annual California Envirothon.
